Our Standards

Gatsby Jewellery only sells natural diamonds. Not only are natural diamonds the correct choice from an investment point of view (lab grown stones are essentially valueless), they are the right choice for the environment. Despite being advertised as such, lab-grown diamonds are not and can never be ‘green’ due to the extraordinary amount of energy it takes to create even a single stone. Modern mining inflicts its own obvious cost on our planet. The only green diamond is an antique diamond.

We strongly believe that jewellery should be graded by a “third party” to provide peace of mind to buyers, which is why we submit our stock to reputable and stringent labs in the UK and Europe. The overwhelming majority of our items come with an independent jewellery, diamond, or gemological report. The very few items which don’t have independent reports are graded in-house to the same exacting standards.

Gatsby is proud to be a member of a number of trade organisations who match and help us to maintain our standards.

We provide free delivery both domestically in the UK and to our customers around the world. We pay all duties and customs for our international buyers.

All UK orders are sent via Royal Mail Special Delivery (fully insured) to be delivered before 1pm the following day. International orders are sent via DHL.

Although we do our very best to ensure that our jewellery will stand up to the rigours of everyday wear, sometimes - although not often - antique jewellery shows its age. We will replace side or accent diamonds or breaks to the metal within the first year if the loss/breakage is due to a manufacturing defect. Beyond twelve months, repairs will be at the customer's expense, but we will work with you to carry out any repairs “at cost”.
